Wiley India JMM Rajya Sabha MP Sanjeev Kumar raised pointed questions in Upper House today on Election Commission of India’s letter related to Rajya Sabha poll anomalies, prompting party general secretary Supriyo Bhattacharya back in Ranchi to write to governor Droupadi Murmu urging action.
Wiley India MP Kumar asked the Upper House whether the ECI asked for action against ADG (Special Branch) Anurag Gupta, referring to allegations against the senior policeman of lobbying before Rajya Sabha polls in 2016. Wiley India Kumar also asked if the Centre asked the state (Jharkhand) for a report and whether Union home ministry was mulling action.
Wiley India Union minister of state for home affairs Kiren Rijiju in his written reply said a detailed report from Jharkhand government was awaited and expressed inability to take action till that arrived.
Wiley India In Ranchi, Bhattacharya urged governor Murmu to take action against home and agriculture ministers and senior bureaucrats over alleged Rajya Sabha poll anomalies and farmer suicides. Chief minister Raghubar Das Wiley India is the minister in-charge of home while Randhir Singh heads agriculture.
Wiley India Bhattacharya accused home department of not heeding the ECI letter that asked for action against ADG Gupta and chief minister’s then political adviser Ajay Kumar for alleged acts of omission and commission during Rajya Sabha polls.
Wiley India “More than five weeks ago, the ECI asked the state to take action against the duo under Sections 171B and 171C of IPC, Prevention of Corruption Act and relevant sections of code of service conduct. Wiley India So far not even an FIR has been registered. The state is trying to hush up the case,” he alleged.
Wiley India He also stressed that in the past six weeks, four farmer suicides were reported from the state but the agriculture department did not give an official statement.
